Stefan is an engineer who went to business school and became a marketer.

Stefan started playing with computers in 1980 when his dad brought home a Tandy TRS-80. Throughout the 1980s, he connected to bulletin board systems with a dial-up modem. In the 1990s, Stefan upgraded to a faster modem and left the bulletin boards for the modern internet. He started building websites in 1995, writing HTML by hand in a plain text editor.

Stefan discovered SEO around 2000 when curiosity drove him to start digging into the HTML of the websites that ranked at the top of the search results on Lycos (arguably a better search engine than Google at the time). He started experimenting with SEO about a decade later and established a focus on Local SEO in 2017 when he started working as a freelance marketer.

With an engineer’s mindset, Stefan leans toward the technical end of marketing. He can help troubleshoot a Local Search problem but cannot design your new logo.

In his spare time, Stefan enjoys cooking, snowboarding, biking, fishing, and canoeing.
