What is a Google Product Expert?
Google Product Experts are trusted and knowledgeable individuals who have been recognized by Google for their expertise on specific topics across various forums. As Google Product Experts, we are not employed by Google, but we contribute voluntarily, demonstrating a deep understanding of Google products. According to Google, you earn Gold Product Expert status after consistently showing your passion for Google products by providing helpful, high-quality answers. Through ongoing participation, we manage to solve problems and assist users, ensuring the guidance we offer is valuable and insightful.
Joy has been an active member of the Google Product Expert program since 2012; Colan joined in 2014, Stefan in 2018, Elizabeth in 2022, and Andrea in 2023. Volunteering on Google’s forums has been a fulfilling hobby for all of us, one we find deeply enjoyable. As Google Product Experts, we earn recognition through the program and have the privilege to interact directly with Google Employees who oversee the Google Business Profile Forum. This interaction allows us to share feedback and contribute to the continuous improvement of the platform.
Additionally, being part of the program means we enjoy unique benefits, including the honor of attending the Product Experts Summit, which Google hosts bi-annually at their headquarters. Being flown out to Google’s office several times to engage with other experts and Google staff is an incredible experience. Joy’s personal highlight of the trip was meeting Matt Cutts, who provided invaluable insights into the product and its evolution.
