How to Create a FREE Google Business Profile Website

In today’s digital age, having a website for your business is essential. It serves as your online presence and can help attract potential customers. However, not all businesses have the resources or expertise to create and maintain a website. That’s where a Google Business Profile (GBP) comes in.

A few years ago, Google introduced a free website option for businesses to use on their Google Business Profile (GBP). This option is particularly useful for businesses that don’t have their own websites and want to avoid linking to social media pages like Facebook or Instagram.

However, many people have been wondering where this option went in the new dashboard for Google Business Profiles, called the New Merchant Experience (NMX). The answer is simple: the option to create a free GBP website is only visible if you don’t already have a website on your listing.

So, if you want to access this feature, you can force it to appear by removing your website from your listing. Now, it’s pretty unlikely you’d want to do this, but it’s an option if you really want to take advantage of the free website. Just remember to add your website back after you’re done.

It’s important to note that making too many major changes to your listing all at once (like your GBP services) can trigger a profile suspension. So, if you’re going to make any changes, do it carefully and in moderation.

TL;DR:

In conclusion, Google Business Profile’s (GBP’s) free website option is a great resource for businesses that don’t have their own website. Although it might not be immediately visible, it’s still available to use. Just remember to use caution when making changes to your listing and always keep your website up-to-date.

  1. Thanks, Joy. I didn’t think this condition was clear in Google’s documentation, so have left some feedback asking them to update it.

We don’t build many GBP sites compared to ‘normal’ sites, but at some point will try and do a comparison between a GBP website and a normal one as they are so cost-effective for lots of small businesses. I’d imagine we won’t be the first to do the comparison; hopefully, there’s some good info out there already!

  2. Just to add to this post… the option to build/manage a GBP website doesn’t appear if your profile is not verified or if it’s suspended… Then that option doesn’t appear for you unfortunate folks:(
